Stairway to heaven
Whisky
Yet to find the best brand of Whisky that I can’t do without. Love Talisker Skye & Dark Storm, Glenfiddich 12 & 15 Years and White Walker. It was fun collecting all the whisky bottles from Game of Thrones. Need to start collecting the Sadler’s Peaky Blinders whiskey collection as well. Hopefully I will be able to travel soon to purchase these
Gin
Fell in love with Hendrick’s gin since my first sip. The smell is like – omg.. It’s like a bouquet of flowers. Gordon’s Pink Gin and Brokers London Gin are good as well. Sipsmith and Hayman’s gin come highly recommended. Just bought the 2 bottles yesterday and need to dig in. Beefeater was not that great. No smell. While I was in Leeds Castle, Kent I bought one of their limited edition gin bottles that they had made to commemorate the castle’s 900th year anniversary. There are only 900 of these bottles in the entire world and I was a sucker for this sales pitch and needed to own one bottle. That’s the first time I realized how good gin can be. Need to buy another bottle if I can find any.
ARRACK
It’s such a shame that the Arrack industry is just catering to the low end of the market which is purely price driven. Decades ago we had some good products which are no longer in production. I was fortunate enough to find the Argente – a 20 year old arrack which can easily rival any 10 year old single malt whisky. Then there’s the Mendis 18 year old which to be frank I didn’t like that much. The Ceylon Arrack is the only premium brand which is in production at the moment. This is a good bottle to have. Then there’s the Palmyra Arrack which is only available in Jaffna. It’s a bit sweeter than other arrack, but a good one to at least have once in your life
bourbon
Without a doubt, the best drink in the world – Jack Daniels No.7. I know it says whiskey on the bottle, but for me to be a bottle of whiskey or whisky, it needs to Irish or Scottish. Anything else is something else. Jack Daniels Sinatra is another good one. It’s just that all their bottles are sooo good. It’s like my own personal brand of water. Gentleman Jack, Red Dog Salon, the Single Barrel collection are some of their top ones. Apart from JD, the Woodford Reserve is another good bourbon to try
